Bowling: Brother Martin extends streak; Slidell, PJP boys, AOL, Kenner Discovery girls also win

Brother Martin’s bowling team extended its winning streak to eight matches Tuesday with a 25-2 victory over Crescent City Christian at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner.

The Crusaders (9-1), third in the latest unofficial LHSAA power rankings, used their entire roster in rolling a 3,404 series.

Jacob Vangilder had an opening-game 244, Ashton Catalinotto a middle-game 241 and Kade Chatelain a final-game 232 to pace Brother Martin.

Chaz Emery’s 237 second game keyed a season-best 610 series for Crescent City (2-7). Jared Gaudet claimed both points for the Pioneers.

Boys – Slidell 26, St. Augustine 1: At Bowling USA in Slidell, the Tigers bounced back from their first loss of the season by defeating the Purple Knights.

Hunter Mullen had games of 210-202-247 for a 659 series to lead Slidell (8-1). Michael Broussard and Cameron Lackey also had 201 games.

Will Sam’s opening-game 149 was the best of the day for St. Aug (0-8).

Boys/Co-Ed – Pope John Paul II 19, Pearl River 8: The Jaguars defeated the Rebels in a St. Tammany Parish matchup at Bowling USA.

Pope John Paul (5-4) got a boost from Hadley Zimmerle, who rolled a 445 series on the left pair. Payton Taylor had a 434.

Pearl River (1-6) was led by Jacob Harper’s 453 series.

Girls – Academy of Our Lady 26, Slidell 1: The Penguins took down the short-handed Tigers at Bowling USA.

AOL (7-3) was paced by Laney Sasso’s 509 series. Skylar Alexander closed with a match-high 184 game.

Kamryn Edwards’ opening 135 game led Slidell (0-9).

Girls – Kenner Discovery 14½, Patrick Taylor 12½: The Swamp Owls edged the Tigers in a tight match at AMF.

Kenner Discovery (3-8) led 5-3 after one game and 10-6 after two before Patrick Taylor (4-5) rallied in the final game, winning four and tying one of the six individual matches. The Tigers could not make up a 74-pin deficit in total pins.

Haley Adams’ final-game 154 was the best of the day for the Swamp Owls. Patrick Taylor got a 163 opening game and 442 series from Gabrielle Viviano.
