Baby Cakes win opener of final series, 6-1, at Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – Joe Gunkel worked six innings Friday night to earn his eighth win of the season, allowing one run on seven hits as the New Orleans Baby Cakes defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 6-1, in the first game of the final regular season series of the season.

Magneuris Sierra reached base four times, stole four bases, scored a run and drove in a run for New Orleans.

The ‘Cakes took a 2-1 lead in the third inning and never looked back to improve to 71-64 on the season.

GAME NOTES – Sierra’s four steals set a new franchise record for most in a game. Gunkel had a pair of hits, marking the first time a New Orleans pitcher has notched a multi-hit game since the 2014 season.

UPCOMING – The ‘Cakes and Dodgers meet in second game of four game series on Saturday night at 7.
