Four NOLA area QBs spotlighted by the Sugar Bowl; fans can vote for favorite on Twitter

NEW ORLEANS – The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced this week’s Manning Award Futures – four local high school quarterbacks who turned in outstanding performances on the football field this past weekend. Fans now have the opportunity to go to Twitter (@SugarBowlNola) to vote for their favorite performance of the week.

The Manning Award, which recognizes the top collegiate quarterback in the nation on an annual basis, was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.

Manning Award Futures – High School QBs of the Week, 10/25/22:

Royal Falgout, John Ehret (8-of-15, 341 total yards, 4 TDs)
Falgout ran for 244 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning TD with 2:08 to go, as the Patriots took down Chalmette, 33-29, in a key District 8-5A match-up.

AJ Samuel, Edna Karr (15-of-18, 382 total yards, 3 TDs)
Samuel led the Cougars to touchdowns in their first five possessions as they continued their Catholic League dominance with a 54-7 blowout of Holy Cross at Tad Gormley Stadium.

Arch Manning, Newman (16-of-20, 258 yards, 4 TDs)
Manning sets the Newman career record for touchdowns with 129 (passing and rushing) as he leads the Greenies to a 31-14 District 10-2A victory over Country Day.

Santana Price, McDonogh 35 (183 total yards, 2 TDs)
Price, who passes for 137 yards and runs for 48 yards, connects on a 55-yard touchdown pass with 34 seconds to go to lift the Roneagles to a 13-10 District 11-4A victory over Carver.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 100 Hall of Fame players, 51 Hall of Fame coaches and 20 Heisman Trophy winners in its 88-year history. The 89th annual Sugar Bowl Classic is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
