2021 Season Final Stats: Southeast Louisiana products in MLB, MiLB

Kevin Gausman

Here’s an update for many of the 2021 major-league and minor-league players who prepped or played collegiately in the New Orleans area and southeast Louisiana. All stats are cumulative for the entire season ending October 3. Below are some of the season’s highlights.

Kevin Gausman (Giants) will be in the National League Cy Young Award conversation with the following stats: tied for the lead in starts (33); 4th in strikeouts (227); tied for 5th in wins (14); 6th in ERA (2.81).

Aaron Loup (Mets) turned in his finest season with a 6-0 record and 0.95 ERA in 65 appearances.

Aaron Nola (Phillies) finished 5th in the NL in strikeouts (223) and 2nd in strikeouts per nine innings (11.109)

Alex Bregman (Astros), DJ LaMahieu (Yankees) and Kevin Gausman (Giants) will be key players for their teams in the MLB post-season.

J.P. France (Astros) had an impressive stat for strikeouts per nine innings (12.4), split between Triple A and Double A.

Mikie Mahtook (Tigers) led his Triple A Charlotte team in HRs (26) and RBIs (62).

Look for Collin Burns (Orioles) to advance quickly next year after turning in .305 BA and .385 OBP in his first pro season, split between the Rookie and Low A levels. He was a sixth-round draft pick out of Tulane and is a De La Salle HS grad.
