The Saints announced Friday that the club has agreed to terms with quarterback Kellen Mond and unrestricted free agent wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown.

The 24-year old Mond, another NFL veteran who can compete for a spot on the depth chart behind starter Derek Carr, worked under new Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak when the pair were together in Minnesota in 2021. Mond’s only three NFL regular season passes came with Kubiak as Vikings offensive coordinator.

The Saints previously signed quarterback Nathan Peterman this offseason after Jameis Winston departed in free agency.

Mond, 6-3, 212, was originally a third round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings (66th overall) out of Texas A&M in 2021. The San Antonio, Texas native served as a backup in Minnesota in 2021 and with the Cleveland Browns in 2022, completing two-of-three passes for five yards in 2021. After completing 42-of-74 passes for 390 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions and carrying six times for 26 yards for the Browns in the 2023 preseason, he spent the last 12 weeks of the season on the Indianapolis Colts practice squad.

Since the Saints parted ways with Michael Thomas, the team has now brought in several veteran receivers including the 27-year old St. Brown. Former Dolphins and Cowboys wideout Cedric Wilson and ex-Bengals special teams standout Stanley Morgan Jr. signed recently.

St. Brown, 6-5, 214, is a six-year NFL veteran who was originally selected in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame by the Green Bay Packers. In six seasons with the Packers (2018-21) and the Chicago Bears (2022-23), St. Brown played in 60 regular season games with 28 starts and has career totals of 63 receptions for 928 yards with two touchdowns. St. Brown has also rushed 11 times for 80 yards, recorded seven special teams tackles and returned a kickoff for 17 yards. In three postseason contests with one start for the Packers, he recorded two receptions for 37 yards, carried once for one yard and had three special teams stops.

The Saints have also added kicker Charlie Smyth, a native of Ireland. Smyth will not count against the preseason roster limit of 90 as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.
