NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers scored nine runs between the fifth and sixth inning as they pulled away to a 12-2 victory in a run rule over the Southern Jaguars on Tuesday night at Maestri Field.

Leading 3-2 heading into the fifth inning, the Privateers set the stage for a three-run frame as Victor Castillo and Mitchell Sanford got aboard on a walk and a single respectively. Miguel Useche laid down a bunt that got him aboard and an ensuing throwing error allowed a run to score.

Later in the inning, Alexander Saunier delivered one of his three hits, a two-run single up the middle that scored a pair and extended the Privateer lead to 6-2.

In the sixth, New Orleans pulled away with six runs as they sent 10 men to the plate. Useche hit his 40th career double to drive in the first of the runs in the inning. With that double, Useche is now three away from tying Ted Wood for tenth place on the program’s all-time doubles list.

Bryce Calloway delivered a two-run single through the left side. Then Collin Loupe came up with the bases loaded and drilled a double down the left field line that cleared the bases and plated three. The umpires went to review which confirmed the call.

Jack Williams had his longest outing of the season as he picked up the win to move to 2-0. Williams allowed five hits but shut out the Jaguars in his stint to pick up the victory. Brooks Byers got the last five outs to close the fourth run rule win of the season.

Castillo drew four walks, which put him one shy of tying the program’s single game record for free passes. Saunier went 3-for-3 with a double and drove in three runs. Loupe had two hits and four RBI on the night. Blake Dean is now 15-3 against Southern after the victory.

Jacoby Radcliffe led the Jaguars offensively by going 2-for-3. Ryan Ollison went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Nick Luckett started and went four innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits.
