Kennedy announces addition of Sydney McQuietor and Wilnie Joseph

LAKE CHARLES — McNeese head women’s basketball coach Lynn Kennedy has announced two more additions to the 2024-25 roster, bringing the total of signees in the past month to seven. The two new additions are also transfers.

Joining the Cowgirls will be Sydney McQuietor and Wilnie Joseph, two post players that will bolster the inside game.

McQuietor, is 6-2 center from Boise State and a native of Keller, Texas. while Joseph is a 6-5 center from UL-Lafayette and a native of Greenwood, Ind.

McQuietor spent the past three seasons at Boise State and started her collegiate career at Boston College. She prepped at Keller High where she averaged 17.3 ppg., 16.0 rpg., and 2.9 bpg. as a junior. This led to her being ranked as the 17th best center in the country by The Blue Star Basketball Report and the 12th best center in the country by ESPN Hoopgurlz. She was a consensus three-star recruit and was also a state champion in the discus.

During the 2023-24 season, McQuietor appeared in 15 games and helped lead Boise State to a 23-win season.

“I believe Sydney will come here and be ready to make a big impact for our program and I am glad she will finish her college career with the,” said Head Coach Lynn Kennedy.

Joseph spent the past two seasons at UL-Lafayette where she helped the Cajuns to 17 wins this season. Over the past two seasons, Joseph played in 38 games, earning six starts while shooting 50.0 percent from the field.

Before arriving at UL-Lafayette, Joseph played at Labette Community College where she helped the team to 24 wins in the 2021-2022 season.

“Wilnie brings a strong physical presence to our post position with the ability to score as well as alter shots at the rim,” said Kennedy.
