MONROE, La. – Quality pitching and hitting led Louisiana Tech to a victory over ULM on Tuesday night. Louisiana Tech (27-12) earned a 6-2 victory over ULM (17-19) at Lou St. Amant Field in Monroe.

Offensively, Tech jumped out the gate hot after the first three pitches to start the game, which Tech had two runs on the scoreboard. Dalton Davis began the game with a double to center field, and Cole McConnell destroyed a ball to left field, putting the Bulldogs up 2-0. ULM fought back in the bottom of the second, cutting Tech’s lead to one run following a home run from Shawn Weatherbee.

Later, Ethan Bates, in the third inning, secured his ninth home run this season after sending a ball over the fence in right field. After two scoreless frames, Tech extended the lead to 4-1 in the sixth after Michael Ballard locked in an RBI single, sending Ethan Bates home. However, in the bottom of the sixth inning, ULM made it a two-run game, following a Colby Lunsford groundout RBI.

Eventually, Tech secured two insurances run thanks to a Grant Comeaux RBI fielder’s choice, which led Adarius Myers to cross home plate. Then, Davis earned an RBI of another fielder’s choice that scored Comeaux and put Tech up 6-2.

Six of Tech pitchers made appearances on the mound Tuesday night. The Bulldogs’s bullpen combined for ten struck-out batters and allowed two earned runs while giving up four hits on the night.

“The pitching was outstanding tonight from Nation, Havern, Hooks, Hubka, and Sam, and it was good to see Ethan get back on the bump after last Saturday night. I am proud of our hitters did enough to win, and we beat a good team at their house.”
