Zachary, Rayne, Ferriday move into CrescentCitySports.com Top 10’s heading into regular season finales

With one week remaining in the regular season, the top teams remain the same in each classification.

West Monroe survived a scare from Ouachita Parish to remain unbeaten and at No. 1 in Class 5A. Evangel was idle and remains second while John Curtis Christian outscored Archbishop Rummel to remain third. Unbeaten Covington is fourth after a 32-14 win over Hammond. Acadiana is fifth with Barbe sixth. East Ascension is seventh with dangerous Landry-Walker eighth and Sulphur ninth. Zachary cracks the top 10 at No. 10 after a resounding win over previously unbeaten Scotlandville.

Defending state champion Karr continues to top the 4A rankings with perhaps the game of the year coming up Thursday night when the Cougars battle third-ranked Warren Easton at Tad Gormley Stadium in a game that you can watch live at CrescentCitySports.com. Defending Division II state champion St. Thomas More remains second. Unbeatens Benton and Lakeshore are still fourth and fifth with Neville sixth. E.D. White Catholic moves up to seventh ahead of its showdown with rival Vandebilt Catholic Friday night. Parkview Baptist is eighth, Leesville is ninth and Rayne moves in at No. 10 after a 28-14 win over Westgate.

De La Salle shutout St. Charles Catholic to remain on top in 3A with impressive University High second. Unbeaten Sterlington is third with West Feliciana fourth and Jena fifth after a thrilling 29-26 win over previously unbeaten Caldwell Parish. Unbeaten Iowa is now sixth with Richwood moving up to seventh. Caldwell Parish falls to eighth, St. Charles Catholic is now ninth and Kaplan is tenth.

Unbeaten Notre Dame is still atop the 2A rankings with unbeaten Amite second. Catholic of New Iberia holds third with unbeaten Newman fourth and Many up to fifth. Welsh falls to sixth with Dunham seventh, St. Helena eighth and Riverside ninth. Ferriday moves back in at No. 10 after clubbing Delhi Charter 54-12.

Defending state champion Logansport remained unbeaten and stays at No. 1 in Class 1A with Kentwood second after a tough win over Ascension Catholic. The Kangaroos face another tough one in Southern Lab this week. Haynesville is third, Oak Grove is fourth and West St. John is fifth. Unbeaten Cedar Creek is sixth with Opelousas Catholic seventh. Catholic of Pointe Coupee is up to eighth, Vermilion Catholic is ninth and Ascension Catholic falls to tenth.
