While two of his former offensive teammates were becoming the latest members of the Saints Hall of Fame Friday night, Zach Strief was getting another honor of his own.

The former Saints tackle and current radio broadcaster was honored by his alma mater with induction into the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame Friday in Evanston, Illinois.

Strief, who played at Northwestern from 2001-05, was the school’s first All-America lineman in 22 years, earning first-team honors from the Football Writers Association of America. He led an offensive line that blocked for only the second offense in Big Ten Conference history to average 500 yards per game.

Strief was one of seven former Wildcats to be honored Friday night. The newest hall of famers will be introduced at Northwestern’s game against Akron on Saturday.
