XULA’s Madison Winston earns RRAC Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana’s Madison Winston was announced Monday as Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week in softball for April 18-24.

Winston — a freshman outfielder from Opelousas, La., and a graduate of Westminster Christian Academy — hit .600 with three RBIs and had an on-base percentage of .667 in four games. Winston extended her hitting streak to a season-high eight games.

XULA, 20-27 overall and 14-14 in the conference, will play close its regular season with a 3 p.m. Tuesday home doubleheader against NCAA Division I Southern at Wesley Barrow Stadium. Then the Gold Nuggets will travel to San Antonio for the RRAC Tournament May 5-7.
