XULA’s Frederick on first-team, Posey on second team in All-RRAC voting
NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana baseball’s Blair Frederick and Courtland Posey earned end-of-season awards from the Red River Athletic Conference, which announced its 2022 honors Friday between opening-round games of its tournament.
Frederick was voted first-team All-RRAC and was the Gold Rush representative on the league’s Champions of Character team. Posey earned second-team All-RRAC.
Frederick — a fifth-year left-handed pitcher from New Orleans and a graduate of Brother Martin High School — was 7-2 with a 3.46 ERA and 87 strikeouts in 65 innings during the regular season. In each of his final four starts before the RRAC Tournament, Frederick went seven-or-more innings, allowed three runs or less and got the victory — all against RRAC opponents in a series opener. Frederick’s ERA for those four starts was 1.86.
Posey is a junior outfielder from Clinton, Miss., and a Clinton High School and East Central Mississippi Community College. He hit .351 with 18 extra-base hits — 11 doubles, four triples, three home runs — and 39 RBIs. Posey led XULA during the regular season in hits, extra-base hits, doubles, triples and with a .539 slugging percentage.
XULA’s season ended Saturday after a 5-4 loss to Our Lady of the Lake in an RRAC Tournament elimination game at Sterlington, La.
