XULA takes both ends of hoops doubleheader over LSU-Alexandria

Men’s Basketball: Finally, XULA defeated LSU-Alexandria.

The Gold Rush limited the Generals, ranked 11th in the NAIA, to 30 percent shooting from the floor in a 69-54 home victory.

Makye Richard scored 17 points and Jeremy Lindsey 16 for XULA (15-4 overall, 6-3 Red River Athletic Conference), which won its fourth straight. TJ Jones tied his career high of 12 assists, and Corey Dunning grabbed 10 rebounds.

For LSUA (14-4, 5-3), Christian Coleman had 14 points and nine rebounds.

XULA had lost its first seven games against LSUA, including an 88-82 decision Jan. 22.

Women’s Basketball: XULA improved its season-best win streak to seven with its 74-39 home victory against LSU-Alexandria.

Nia Bishop scored 16 points, Abryhia Irons 15 and Victory Udechi 12 for the Gold Nuggets (13-5 overall, 8-1 Red River Athletic Conference).

Udechi had 10 rebounds and four steals. Bishop had nine rebounds and three assists, and Irons missed only one of her 10 shots and committed no turnovers in 31 minutes.

Kelsey Thaxton scored 10 points for LSUA (4-13, 4-4).
