XULA, MUW split Sunday softball DH

COLUMBUS, Miss. — Brittany Ensley pitched a complete game and hit a two-run double Sunday to help Xavier University of Louisiana defeat Mississippi University for Women 6-3 and gain a split of their softball doubleheader.

MUW won the opener 7-6 in eight innings.

Ensley doubled home Shatavion Favors and Endya Gillard during a three-run third inning. XULA doubled five times in the second game; the others were by Gillard, Tamia Washington, Destyn Jones and Mekayla Marshall.

Ensley threw 88 pitches in seven innings. She allowed seven hits, three earned runs and struck out six. She didn’t walk anyone.

XULA will close its regular season in a 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader against Talladega at Talladega, Ala.
