NEW ORLEANS — It had been 60 days since the most recent Xavier University of Louisiana men’s basketball game, but XULA showed little rust Wednesday in a 94-51 thrashing of Southeastern Baptist.

A 27-2 first-half surge sparked XULA (3-1) to a wire-to-wire victory and its 17th consecutive home triumph.

Makye Richard scored 20 points, Jordan Temple 19, Rayshawn Mart 13 and Cameron Dumas 10 for XULA, which will open its Gulf Coast Athletic Conference schedule at noon Monday against Tougaloo at a neutral site, Talladega’s new Dr. Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center. The XULA men will play three GCAC games there next week
