Xavier University of Louisiana softball lost 9-2 to Faulkner, then 2-1 to Blue Mountain Christian Saturday in the Gulf Coast Invitational at Gulf Shores, Ala.

Against Faulkner, Madison Winston had two hits and scored both XULA runs, and Kadence Means and Mecolett Bradley had RBIs.

In the second game Blue Mountain Christian’s Skylar Lee singled home Destiny Dill in the bottom of the seventh inning with the winning run. XULA’s Chenai Keyes singled home McKenzie Guillory with two out for a 1-0 XULA lead in the third.

The Gold Nuggets (3-10) will attempt to snap their nine-game losing streak — four of those defeats were by one run — when they play William Woods at 1:30 p.m. CST Sunday in XULA’s final tournament game.
