Xavier’s Jennifer Torres named NAIA Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Xavier University of Louisiana’s Jennifer Torres was announced as the NAIA’s Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week by the national office for the week of October 19-25 on Tuesday afternoon.

Torres wrote her name in the Gold Nuggets’ record book by compiling a program-best 37 digs to go along with 24 receptions without logging a single error.

The senior libero from Jacksonville, Florida also became the first player in school history to notch back-to-back 30-dig performances as she led the gold and green to a comeback five-set victory over the previously unbeaten William Carey Lady Crusaders.

To go along with the accolades listed above, she was able to tally four assists and a service ace as well.
