NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana’s Mecolett Bradley was selected Association of Independent Institutions Hitter of the Week in softball for March 29-April 4.

Bradley — a junior infielder from Marrero, La., and a former De La Salle High School and Coastal Alabama College standout — hit .800 (4-for-5) during XULA’s home doubleheader sweep of Talladega with four runs, two triples, four RBIs, one walk and one hit-by-pitch. Other percentages were 1.600 slugging and .857 on-base.

The doubleheader sweep was the first for XULA, a first-year intercollegiate program. For the season Bradley is hitting .293 with team highs of seven extra-base hits and 10 RBIs.

Bradley is XULA’s second A.I.I. honoree. Tamia Washington was Hitter of the Week for Feb. 15-21.

Next for XULA: a noon Monday home doubleheader against Mississippi University for Women at Wesley Barrow Stadium. MUW is 13-9 after sweeping Judson (Ala.) in a Tuesday road doubleheader.
