— Xavier third baseman Deionte Norris: also 4-for-4 in the opener with a home run, a double and four RBIs . . . Norris reached base safely in all five of his first-game plate appearances
— Xavier freshman shortstop Eliam Dudamel: terrific collegiate debut with four hits, five RBIs and zero errors in the doubleheader
— Xavier homered four times in the opener . . . pinch-hitter Lawrence Steed had the other one, a two-run shot in a five-run sixth inning
— this is Xavier’s third season in its second era of baseball; the program was dormant from 1961-2020
