Xavier announces tryouts for national champion cheers squad, softball team

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana co-ed competitive cheer will conduct team tryouts next week for current XULA students for the 2022-23 academic year.

Tryouts will start at 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at XULA’s Convocation Center (7900 Stroelitz St., New Orleans LA 70125). Audition cost is $15. Wear all-black attire.

XULA was the 2022 NAIA national champion in this sport and finished fifth in the NAIA in 2021.

Also, Xavier University of Louisiana softball will conduct team tryouts next week for current XULA students for the 2022-23 academic year.

Tryouts will start at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at the softball facility at Wesley Barrow Stadium (6500 Press Drive, New Orleans LA 70126). That facility is about five miles as the crow flies from XULA, and the softball field is behind baseball’s left-field wall.

This is XULA’s third season of intercollegiate softball.
