Area Prep Wrestling Report for Sunday, Dec. 8

St. Paul’s continues its impressive season on the mats.

The Wolves went to South Walton High (Florida) and captured the prestigious Border Wars event in Santa Rosa Beach, edging out Wakulla of Crawfordsville, Florida.  Holy Cross had a good showing, finishing fourth.

Individual champions for the Wolves included Jake Houser (106) and Peyton Ward (145). St. Paul’s had second place finishers in Carter Duet (120), Ben Davidson (160), Blain Cascio (170), Evan Ulfers (195) and Cole Ulfers (220).

The Frost brothers once again showed the way for Holy Cross, both Evan (113) and Jacob (120) capturing individual titles.

Chalmette captured the 37th annual George Trygg Wrestling Memorial in Metairie, edging out Baton Rouge High for the title. A reserve team from St. Paul’s finished third with Lakeshore fourth and Pearl River fifth.

The Owls had six individual winners, including Anthony Perez (106), Trey Silva (120), Marco Spicuzzo (126), Mohammed Abdelhaq (152), Christian Moore (182) and DaiJon Bibbs (195).

Lakeshore had a pair of winners including Jason Brouillette (113) and Dominic Spizale (132).

Pearl River had a champion in Jakob McKee (170) while John Drake (285) of John Curtis Christian was also victorious.
