Area Prep Wrestling Report for Sunday, Dec. 11

In a matchup of two excellent Division I wrestling programs, St. Paul’s edged Holy Cross 37-31 in dual meet action Saturday.

The Wolves won seven of the 13 matches contested and the difference proved to be a forfeit, awarding the Wolves six points in the 285-pound weight class.

Scoring falls for St. Paul’s were Scott Cascio (106), Landry Barker (170) and Jackson Peak (182).

Winning by pin for the Tigers were Vincent Vidacovich (113), Matthew Krail (126), Rylee Reaves (145) and Nick DiGeralamo (160).

At the 5th Annual Duplessis Invitational at John Ehret, Jesuit took home the team title with 235 points with Brother Martin second and Chalmette third.

The Crusaders did not have most starters entered but displayed their vast depth while the Blue Jays certainly appear to be the biggest threat to Brother Martin statewide in Division I.

Winners for Brother Martin included Logan Dacuyan (106), Trey Trainor (113), Salvatore Caserta (132) and Kyle Chauvin (152).
