Brother Martin, Shaw also win dual

The top two teams in Division I wrestling continued their winning ways Wednesday evening, defeating a pair of other annual contenders for state honors.

St. Paul’s downed Holy Cross 54-21.

The Wolves won nine of the 14 matches contested.

Scoring falls for the Wolves were Conlan Enk (113), Trey Faherty (120), Collin Cusimano (126), Landry Barker (160), Jared Paulino (170) and Sam Gros (195).

Winning by pin for the Tigers were Nicholas Sauerwin (132) and John Sheridan (285).

The best match of the night saw Nick DiGeralamo of Holy Cross down Grant Nastasi of St. Paul’s 3-1 at 152 pounds.

Brother Martin took down Catholic of Baton Rouge 46-16.

The Crusaders dominated individually, winning 10 of 13 matches contested but the Bears competed very well, allowing Brother Martin no pins.

Mason Elsensohn (132) and Kent Burandt (145) won by technical fall for Brother Martin while Logan Dacuyan (106), Richie Clementi (113), Samuel Riles (152) and Rocco Horvath (170) won by major decision.

Scoring falls for Catholic were Thomas Domangue (182) and Nicholas Migliacio (195).

The best match was in the heavyweight division (285) where David Russell of Catholic outlasted Chaney Phillips of Brother Martin 14-12.

Chalmette and Lakeshore wrestled to a 42-42 tie.

The Titans won six of 11 matches that were contested.

Scoring falls for Lakeshore were Bryce Latino (106), Luke Latino (113), Tyler Baumy (152), Alejandro Canas (160), Kaleb Sanders (170) and Carter Davis (285).

Winning by pin for the Owls were Dylan Fetter (126), Mohammed Gaber (132), Clarence Pesnell (138) and Gavin Labruzzo (145) and Ivan Mitchell (220).

Archbishop Shaw won a pair of duals, defeating Fontainebleau 42-27 and downing Live Oak 54-30.
