It was a top seed vs. a second seed.

The top seed was tops, simply too much for the second seed.

Wossman broke open a close game in the second quarter and pulled away for a 63-43 win over Albany to capture the Non-Select Division II state championship at University Center.

The Wildcats led 15-13 after one quarter and then steadily pulled away for the win. Wossman outscored the Hornets 15-5 in the second quarter to take a 30-18 halftime lead. It was 47-26 heading to the fourth quarter.

Wossman (28-2) shot 51 percent from the field. Danaya Ross led the way with 24 points and eight rebounds in earning Most Valuable Player honors. Anyra Wilson had 14 points while Brittany Burton had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Emma Fuller had eight points and seven rebounds for the Hornets while Ava Shields had seven points. Albany (28-3) shot just 27 percent from the field.
