Women’s Basketball: LSU hands No. 14 Iowa State first loss of season
BATON ROUGE – In her first crack at leading LSU against a ranked opponent, Head Coach Kim Mulkey led the Tigers to a victory over No. 14 Iowa State on Thursday evening in the PMAC, 69-60.

The pair of Alexis Morris and Khalya Pointer was excellent tonight as the Tigers handed the Cyclones their first loss of the season.

The dynamic duo for LSU (6-1) fed off of each other’s play as they were dishing out multiple assists to each other. Morris was lights out shooting as she finished with a career-high 25 points, including a 5-for-7 performance from behind the arc, while also notching four boards and two assists. Pointer finished the game with 20 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.

Ryann Payne put up a solid nine points, three rebounds, and three assists while also tying a career mark for steals with five.

Defending Cheryl Miller Award Winner Ashley Joens was the leading scorer for Iowa State (7-1) with 24 points. She also contributed seven rebounds and one assist.
At the conclusion of a 10-day break, the Tigers will return to action on Sunday, December 12th to take on the Texas Southern Tigers in the PMAC at 1 p.m. CT. The game will be available for viewing on SEC Network+.
