PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana College women’s basketball team found scoring difficult in the first half and never recovered in the Lady Wildcats 83-52 loss to the #15/#17 Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders Saturday afternoon at H.O. West Fieldhouse.

The young Wildcats struggled right out of the gate, finding themselves down 11-0 before finally breaking the seal as Kayla Kinney got to the rack and scored. Three straight made free throws, one by Kinney and two by Alexis Lege, actually pulled the Wildcats back to within six points at 11-5 with 3:31 left in the first half, but that would be as close as LC would get the rest of the way. Things seemed to turn in the Wildcats favor in the third quarter as shots started to fall following a 14-pont first half, but by then the deficit was too large to mount a comeback.

ZyUnn Cormier led all scorers with 21 points on seven of 16 shooting, including three of six from three. Maya Washington dished out six assists, while Kayla Kinney grabbed a team high seven rebounds. Louisiana College finished the game shooting 27.9% from the field, including 33.3% from above the three-point arc. UMHB shot 43.5% in the contest and 37.5% from above the arc.

The Lady Wildcats (2-10, 0-4 ASC) look to get right on the road on Thursday evening against the University of Texas-Dallas. Tip-off against the Comets is set for 5:30 P.M. at the UTD Activity Center.
