Wichita State blanks Tulane, 2-0, to open series

WICHITA, Kan. – The Tulane University baseball team (30-20-1, 10-9) suffered a 2-0 loss Friday night to Wichita State in the opening game of its conference series against the Shockers (17-32, 5-13).

Tulane collected six hits and left eight on the base, while the Wichita State pitching staff struck out 12 Tulane batters in the victory.

Left-hander Dylan Carmouche suffered the loss and dropped to 5-3 on the year after he worked 7.2 innings, struck out six and gave up the only two runs.

The only two runs of the game both came in the first frame with two triples and a double coming from the Shocker bats to go up 2-0 early.

Gavin Schulz was the only slugger on the Tulane side to have multiple hits, singling two out to center in the first and third innings.

Bennett Lee, Jackson Linn, Teo Banks and Trevor Minder each collected one hit in the series opener.

Wichita State’s Jace Kaminska picked up the win for the Shockers after he went 5.1 innings and struck out seven batters.
