West Monroe slows down Neville for 27-7 win

West Monroe capitalized on its opportunities in key spots and held back a vaunted Neville rushing attack for a 27-7 win Friday before a rowdy crowd at Bill Ruple Stadium.

Quarterback Slade Bolden rushed for two touchdowns and Cam Wright scored to help the Rebels (5-0) build a 21-7 halftime lead. Bolden convetrd a fourth and shirt with 11 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Rebels a two score lead at the break.

Junior Carson Jones made two long field goals in,the second half while the Rebel defense played field position with the Tigers (2-3).

“I just have to concentrate on what I do in practice,” Jones said after the game. “I had to do what I can to help my team. I have to capitalize on every opportunity.”

West Monroe hosts Ruston next Friday to begin District 2-5A play.
