West Monroe cruises past Central Lafourche in Class 5A opener

Fullback Cayden Pierce rushed for two touchdowns and Kade Pittard forced two turnovers as West Monroe routed Central Lafourche, 47-7, in the first round of the LHSAA Class 5A playoffs.

Running back Dee Williams got the Rebels (10-1) on the board less than a minute into the game. Williams took an option pitch from quarterback Lane Little and raced 25 yards for a touchdown.

It sparked a 47 straight point outburst for West Monroe, the No. 2 seed in these 5A playoffs. The Rebels did a little bit of everything too including a punt return for a touchdown by AJ Fenceroy, his fourth such return for score this season.

Aiden Bellot also got the defense on the bakrd with a fumble return for touchdown. It was part of five turnovers the Rebel defense forced off Central Lafourche.

Pierce finished with 47 yarfs and 2 scores. Fenceroy led the Rebels with 73 yard son the ground as the balanced West Monroe attack raised up 256 yards rushing.

Quarterback Lane Little added 61 yards rushing.

West Monroe will host No. 15 Captain Shreve next Friday in the second round.
