West Division champion Louisiana Tech earn bye to C-USA Quarterfinals
RUSTON – After the conclusion of the final day of league play, the West Division champion Louisiana Tech earned a first-round bye in the 2021 Air Force Reserve C-USA Men’s Basketball Championship presented by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas.
LA Tech, who finished with a 12-4 league mark and a 20-6 overall record, is the No. 1 West seed and will play the winner of Florida Atlantic (No. 4 East) and UTEP (No. 5 West) on Thursday, March 11 at 8:30 p.m. on Court A in the quarterfinals. The matchup will be broadcast by Stadium.
The Bulldogs did not face the Owls this season. The two teams have met once before in the C-USA Tournament back in 2019, which resulted in a 57-56 comeback victory for LA Tech.
The ‘Dogs and Miners squared off twice in El Paso, Texas this season, splitting the two-game series. LA Tech and UTEP have never met up in the C-USA Tournament.
The tourney gets underway on Tuesday, March 9.
