Wayne Stein’s success as St. Charles Catholic’s head coach in both football and baseball is as good as it gets.

Under his leadership, the football program has won two straight Division III Select state football championships. On Friday evening in Sulphur, his Comets made it back-t0-back Division III Select state baseball titles with a 9-1 romp over Holy Savior Menard.

After the game, Stein told VK Jones of Crescent City Sports that the win marks his final game at the helm of the St. Charles baseball program. He will stay in his roles as Athletic Director and head football coach.

Stein has been coaching at his alma mater for the past two decades.
