Waters has highlight night as LSU downs Vanderbilt, 88-78

BATON ROUGE– Behind freshman Tremont Waters’ 28 points and nine assists, the LSU men’s basketball team took its fifth-straight win in the Maravich Center with a 88-78 victory against Vanderbilt Tuesday night.

With the win, LSU improves to 16-11 overall and 7-8 in Southeastern Conference play while Vanderbilt falls to 11-17 and 5-10 in the SEC.

Waters was the Tigers’ point leader as he was 10-of-18 on the night. He now has 160 total assists and made history as LSU’s freshman with the most assists in a season. With his eighth assist of the night, he surpassed Ben Simmons who recorded 158 during the 2015-16 season.

Aaron Epps led the LSU with seven rebounds and also tacked on 15 points. Sophomore Wayde Sims also had a banner night, posting a career-high 16 points in 30 minutes of action as the sophomore was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor.
