Tulane’s chances for a big season opening win this fall may have gone up Thursday.

Wake Forest football coach Dave Clawson announced that first-string quarterback Kendall Hinton and tight end Thomas Cole have received three-game suspensions for violation of team rules.

Both will miss Wake Forest’s first three games of the 2018 season starting with their game at Tulane.

Hinton, a redshirt junior, came out of spring practice as the projected starter with four career starts to his credit. The redshirt sophomore Cole played in three games last season.

With Hinton sidelined, the Demon Deacons will have to turn to other inexperienced options to replace departed four-year starter John Wolford.

The Green Wave will welcome the Deacons to Yulman Stadium on Thursday night, on August 30 in the season opener for both teams.
