Volleyball: Unbeaten Dominican downs St. Joseph’s, Helen Cox, Patrick Taylor victorious

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, September 30

Defending Division I state champion Dominican is looking the part again in 2022, staying unbeaten Thursday with a convincing 25-18, 25-22, 25-15 win at St. Joseph’s Academy.

Cam Chatellier led Dominican (19-1) with nine kills while Anne Hardouin had seven kills, 12 digs and five aces.

Taylor Stockwell had six kills and 11 digs to lead the Redstickers (5-10).

Dominican will play at E.D. White Catholic Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Helen Cox bounced back from a loss to Riverdale with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-14 win at home over McMain.

Asyia Blount led the Cougars with 12 kills, nine digs, three aces and two blocks. Anyla Dennison had five kills, five digs, four aces and four blocks. Giovanna Butts had eight digs and seven aces and Mariah Phillips dished up eight assists.

The Cougars (12-6) will travel to East Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. Monday while the Mustangs (9-7) will travel to Karr at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Patrick Taylor continued its fine season, whipping West Jefferson 25-9, 25-6, 25-7 at home.

Sophomore Cecilia Veters led the way with 11 kills, four aces, two digs and a block while senior Mallory Lindeberg had four kills and five aces. Senior Kadence Cannon had 10 assists and a dig.

The Tigers (9-1) return to action Monday, hosting Belle Chasse while the Buccaneers (3-8) will play Tuesday at McMain at 5:30 p.m.
