Volleyball: St. Katharine Drexel outlasts Lusher; WSJ, Dominican spikes Hahnville in four
Area Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, Sept. 20
St. Katharine Drexel snapped a six-match losing streak Wednesday with a hard fought 25-21, 15-25, 16-25, 25-18 15-12 victory at Lusher.
The Yellowjackets (6-6) had won four straight matches prior to the losing streak. They will host Newman next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Lusher (0-10) returns to action next Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:30 p.m.
West St. John won at home over Landry-Walker 27-25, 26-24, 25-16. The Rams (4-5) return to action this afternoon at McDonogh 35 at 4:30 p.m. The Chargin’ Bucs (5-3) play at Warren Easton next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Dominican downed Hahnville 25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-6 for its fifth straight win. Olivia Payton led Dominican (12-4) with 11 kills and four blocks. Dominican will next Ben Franklin Saturday at 11 a.m. while Hahnville (11-10) opens District 6-1 play today at East St. John at 4:30 p.m.
