Volleyball: Slidell, Sacred Heart, AOL, Lutcher, Country Day with wins Wednesday
Area Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, Sept. 14
A battle of one-loss teams Wednesday at Pearl River quickly became a Tiger tale.
Slidell won its fifth straight match, dismissing Pearl River 25-17, 25-5, 25-19 at Pearl River.
Ava Barduca produced 16 kills and four blocks while Reagan Robinson had 14 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Addy Dowell and Kayla Rachel each had eight kills, Demoni Lewis had two kills and seven digs, Ava Labat contributed 25 assists and Ella Kate Spilling finished with 10 digs.
The Tigers (12-1) have lost only to unbeaten Northlake Christian. Slidell returns to action Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas next Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The Rebels (9-2) will host Springfield Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Academy of The Sacred Heart won at home over Thomas Jefferson 25-10, 28-26, 25-17.
Gigi Gibbens led the Cardinals (9-3) with 12 kills while Kate Farris had 11 kills and 10 digs. Caroline Balart finished with 22 assists, Lily Stone had 10 assists and three aces and Taylor Roberts finished with 16 digs.
Academy of Our Lady downed Ursuline Academy 25-22, 24-26, 25-15, 25-23 at home for its sixth straight win.
Lillian Daviss led the Penguins (10-3) with 12 kills, Abby Cao had 31 assists, Emma Cao finished with 18 digs, Jaci Carmadelle served six aces and Cassidi Jones contributed three blocks.
Lutcher defeated St. Charles Catholic 25-14, 25-7, 25-10 at home.
Junior Halle Cambre had eight kills, nine digs and served five aces, senior Wren Delaneuville had 16 digs and an ace, senior Grace Poche had three kills, 29 assists and four digs, senior Allie Brady had eight kills, eight digs and six aces and sophomore Melanie Brady finished with two kills, two aces, a dig and a block.
Lutcher (6-6) will host Ascension Catholic today at 6 p.m.
Country Day bounced back from a loss to Haynes Academy with a thrilling 5-set win over Vandebilt Catholic, winning 25-14, 25-23, 21-25, 17-25, 15-13 in Metairie.
Maggie Schneider led the way with 31 kills, Lia Beverly had 16 kills and Leila Washington finished with 13 kills. Addison Launey had 14 digs.
The Cajuns (7-3) will host Ben Franklin today at 4 p.m.
