Volleyball: Slidell, Archbishop Hannan, Crescent City Christian, Patrick Taylor post wins Thursday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday , Sept. 8

In his first year at Slidell, Danny Tullis is making his mark, making a difference. A state champion coach at Pope John Paul II previously, Tullis has established a winning culture.

Slidell won at Ponchatoula 25-19, 25-16, 25-20 in Thursday action.

Junior Reagan Robinson led the way with 14 kills and 13 digs while sophomore Ava Barduca had 10 kills and 10 blocks. Senior Kayla Rachel added seven kills and two blocks. Junior Callie Ezell served three aces. Junior Justice Kingston and Ella Kate Spilling each had 13 digs and junior Demoni Lewis finished with 11 digs. Sophomore Ava Labat had 35 assists, 14 digs, six blocks and served two aces.

The Tigers (10-1) have won three straight matches and will host Walker Monday at 5 p.m.

The Green Wave (2-3) lost their third straight match and will travel to Woodlawn of Baton Rouge at 6 p.m. Monday.

Archbishop Hannan remained unbeaten with a 25-11, 25-15, 25-17 victory at Northshore.

Sophia Bonnafee led the attack with 15 kills, Mia Phillips added eight kills while Bailey Bevolo had six kills. Sarah Kirsch had 31 assists and served six aces. Avery Lewis finished with 13 digs and three aces.

The Hawks (3-0) will travel to Parkview Baptist Monday at 5:30 p.m. while the Panthers (1-3) will host Archbishop Chapelle next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Crescent City Christian fought off Covenant Christian 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19 in Metairie, handing the Lions their first loss of the season.

Kate White had seven kills, Ja’Kaira Jimcoily had eight kills, Ja’Kayla Jimcoily had six kills and four blocks, Annabelle Rouquette had eight kills and four aces, Jensen Heaphy had three kills and served four aces and Madison Foster produced 12 digs.

The Pioneers (3-2) will return to action hosting Academy of the Sacred Heart next Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Covenant Christian (7-1) will play at Thomas Jefferson next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Patrick Taylor outlasted Riverdale in a five-set thriller, winning 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-8 at Riverdale.

Junior Cecilia Veters led the Tigers with 14 kills, 19 kills and two aces while freshman Shia Harlan had nine kills. Junior Madison Barth had seven kills, 15 assists and two aces and senior Gabrielle Weber added six kills, 22 assists and two aces. Senior Layla Harwell had 10 digs.

The Tigers (3-0) return to action next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at home against Kenner Discovery. The Rebels (2-3) will travel to De La Salle at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
