Volleyball: Sacred Heart runs win streak to 10, Kenner Discovery downs Fisher

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Thursday, Sept. 15

Academy of the Sacred Heart of New Orleans has taken their winning volleyball run to double digits.

The Cardinals (11-1) handled McGehee 25-12, 25-23, 25-12 at home Wednesday for their 10th consecutive victory.

Mary Caroline Mazzani led the attack with 14 kills while Gigi Gibbons added 11 kills. Brook Habetz produced 26 assists while Cami Davis and Lucy Vacius each had three aces. Vacious added 10 digs while Katherine Hale had 14 digs.

Sacred Heart (11-1) returns to action in the Catholic League tournament this Friday against St. Louis Catholic and Notre Dame. McGehee (2-3) will host Hahnville next Tuesday.

Kenner Discovery won its second straight match, handling Fisher on the road in straight sets, 25-23, 25-13, 25-8.

Brianna Litolff led the way with two kills, 12 aces and five assists while Taylor Green had five kills and six blocks. Chaela Alexander finished with four kills and three assists, Emily West had three kills and five aces, Claudia Grassel finished with five kills and Brinley Muller had five digs and two assists.

The Swamp Owls (6-5) will host Springfield next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. while the Gators (1-4) are back in action Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
