Volleyball Report: MCA visits SSA, Country Day treks to Vandebilt

With less than a month before the state playoffs, the prep volleyball season enters the final stretch of the 2017 regular season.

Among the top matches Monday, three-time Division I state champion Mount Carmel (25-5) travels to Covington to take on St. Scholastica (18-4) at 5:30 p.m. The Cubs are coming off of a four-set loss to St. Joseph’s Academy but are No. 1 in the most recent LHSAA Division I power ratings. The Doves have won four straight matches and are sixth in the latest Division II power ratings.

Country Day (19-2) travels to Houma to take on Vandebilt Catholic (17-4). The defending Division V state champion Cajuns are the second-ranked team in the Division V power ratings while the Terriers are the top-ranked team in the Division III power ratings. Country Day has won 10 straight matches, including a three-set win over Vandebilt Catholic in the St. Joseph’s Academy tournament on Sept. 23. The Terriers have won three straight matches and reached the Division III final a year ago.
