Volleyball Report: Hagadone wins 500th as Mount Carmel handles Ben Franklin, Fisher downs M.L. King Charter

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Wednesday, Oct. 2

While Kelli Plaiscia was winning her 700th career match at Chalmette, a former pupil of Plaiscia also reached a milestone of her own Tuesday evening.

April Hagadone of Mount Carmel Academy achieved her 500th career victory as the Cubs won at Ben Franklin, 25-18, 25-12, 25-23.

Sophomore Olivia Stant led the way with 16 kills and five digs, senior Tea Jones had 14 kills, five blocks and one dig and senior Victoria Frught dished out 39 assists, six blocks, four digs and a kill for the Cubs.

The Cubs (18-6) renew their rivalry with St. Joseph’s Academy Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Baton Rouge while the Falcons (19-3) will host East Jefferson today at 4:30 p.m.

Fisher remained hot, winning its third straight match with a 25-7, 25-19, 25-1 victory over M.L. King Charter in Lafitte Tuesday.

Junior Kylie Matherne had nine kills and five assists. Senior Reagan White had five kills, two assists ant one dig. Senior Siera Berquero finished with 15 assists.

The Gators (6-4) return to action at John Ehret next Monday at 4 p.m. M.L. King Charter (2-10) returns to action today, hosting St. Mary’s Academy at 4:30 p.m.
