Volleyball Playoffs: Dominican, Chapelle, MCA, Mandeville, Northshore, Belle Chasse, SSA advance to Lafayette

Top seed and two-time defending state champion Dominican is heading to the state tournament quarterfinals in Lafayette.

Dominican handled No. 16 Hahnville 25-20, 25-12, 25-12 in New Orleans in Saturday action.

Anne Marie Hardouin led Dominican with 10 kills, eight aces and a block while Zoe Smith had 10 kills and O’neil Haddad had nine kills and two blocks. Gabby Marcello had 31 assists, Lauren Pipitone had 22 digs and Cam Chatellier finished with 11 digs.

Mariah Mott had nine kills for the Tigers, who finished the season 27-13.

Dominican (40-3) advances to the Cajundome Thursday to take on a familiar opponent in District 7-I rival and ninth seed Archbishop Chapelle.

The Chipmunks made a long trip a successful one as the Chipmunks downed eighth-seeded Natchitoches Central 22-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-18.

Isabella McCann led Chapelle (23-15) with 17 kills, 10 digs and four aces, Megan LaCour had 12 kills, seven digs and three aces, Carmen Wetzel had 11 kills, Colleen O’Connor had 13 digs and served three aces and Haylie Lambert produced 33 assists.

Dominican swept three regular season matches against Chapelle.

No. 2 seed Mount Carmel Academy rolled over No. 18 Ruston 25-7, 25-18, 25-9 Saturday in Lakeview.

Lindsey Wickersham led the attack with 11 kills, 19 digs and one block. Makayla Page had nine kills, two digs and a block. Juliana Indovina had eight kills, five digs, two blocks and Brooke Darrah had six kills and two digs. Ellen Brown added 22 assists.

The Cubs (35-3) advance to the state tournament at the Cajundome in Lafayette Thursday and will take on No. 7 Mandeville.

Mount Carmel defeated the Skippers in a close match on Sept. 24.

The Skippers (25-13) advanced to the quarterfinals with a 25-15 25-21, 25-18 win over No. 10 St. Amant.

Maison Vigil had 12 kills, Keira Beverly had 10 kills, Mary Lauren Nelson had nine kills and Gabbi Hogge had seven kills to pace the attack for Mandeville.

No. 4 seed Northshore advanced by defeating No. 13 Chalmette 25-20, 25-18, 25-14 at home.

Tierney Terrell led the attack with 18 kills, Emily Martin had 34 assists, Alivia Hartdegen had 22 digs, Reese Jobert had 15 digs, Cydne Clayton finished with 14 digs and Mariah Hammond had five blocks.

The Panthers (25-14) will meet No. 5 Sam Houston in the quarterfinals Thursday.

In Division II, No. 5 Belle Chasse advanced to the final eight with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-15 victory at home over No. 12 Breaux Bridge.

Nya St. Cyr led the way with 12 kills, 10 blocks, three digs and an ace, Ellen Rehrig had five kills, 12 digs, 10 assists and an ace, Jerne Colin had five kills, 13 assists, eight digs and an ace, Cacie Petrovich had 14 digs and three aces and Kloe Johnson had five blocks.

The Cardinals (33-9) advance to Lafayette to take on No. 4 Assumption Thursday.

No. 6 St. Scholastica whipped No. 11 Riverdale 25-21, 25-11, 25-18 in Covington.

Julia Whitfield had 11 kills and there blocks, Sophia Schega had six kills and two blocks, Laurel Bobrowski had four kills and four aces, Julia Case had four kills and four blocks, Emily Devlin had 19 assists and Bella Rodrigue had 11 assists.

The Doves (24-14) advance to Lafayette to take on No. 3 Ben Franklin Thursday. The Falcons beat SSA in straight sets back on September 1
