Prep Volleyball Playoff Report for Thursday, Nov. 2

In Division I, No. 1 seed and three-time defending state champion Dominican opened defense of its title with an easy 25-4, 25-17, 25-8 win over district rival and No. 32 seed John Ehret.

Tamia Williams led Dominican with 10 kills, Camryn Chatellier had six kills and four digs and Noelie Haddad finished with five kills and four digs. Lauren Pipitone served four aces, 11 digs and four assists. Gabby Marcello produced three kills, 26 assists and served three aces.

Dominican (39-2) advances to host No. 16 Ponchatoula Saturday at 10 a.m. The Green Wave (23-15) advanced with a four-set win over No. 17 Central.

No. 2 seed Mount Carmel Academy routed No. 31 Lafayette 25-7, 25-8, 25-7 in Lakeview.

Brooke Darrah and Giselle Estrada each had 10 kills. Darrah added four blocks. Nola Sevin produced 27 digs, Colby Pechon had 12 digs and Olivia Meyer finished with 10 digs and Emma Richey had 34 assists.

The Cubs (27-7) will entertain No. 18 East Ascension Saturday at 11 a.m. The Spartans downed No. 15 St. Joseph’s Academy in four sets.

Also in Division I, No. 4 Slidell handled No. 29 Sulphur 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 at home.

Kayla Rachel at Reagan Robinson each had 11 kills while Demoni Lewis finished with eight kills and 11 digs for the Tigers. Rachel added four blocks and Robinson added 12 digs while Ava Labat had 38 assists, nine digs and five blocks.

Slidell (33-5) moves on to the regional round to face the winner of today’s match between No. 13 Terrebonne and No. 20 Byrd.

No 11 Archbishop Chapelle defeated No. 22 Destrehan 25-13, 25-9, 25-20.

Haley Bellande led the Chipmunks with nine kills while Isabelle McCann had eight kills. Ava Kirsch added seven kills and two aces and Caitlyn LaRocca finished with six kills and six digs. Blythe Bonnafee had 15 assists, Victoria McCann added 14 assists and Carmen Wetzel finished with 10 digs.

Chapelle (21-18) advances will play the winner of No. 6 Chalmette and No. 27 Northshore in the regional round.

In Division II, No. 4 St. Scholastica dismissed No. 29 East Jefferson 25-7, 25.13, 25-20.

Julia Whitfield had seven kills, Lauren Gazeley had six kills and Mia Casi added five kills. Emily Devlin and 17 assists while Olivia Palmer finished with 16 assists.

The Doves (23-13) advance to face the winner of the match between No. 13 South Lafourche and No. 20 Neville in the regional round.

In Division III, No. 11 Lutcher fought off No. 22 Episcopal 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18 at home.

Josie Robertson led the Bulldogs with 15 kills, three digs and a block while Abby York had 10 kills. Gracie Poche produced five kills, 46 assists and 13 digs, Allie Brady had 13 kills and nine digs and Halle Cambre finished with nine kills and a block.

Lutcher (20-11) travels to No. 2 Vandebilt Catholic this evening at 5 p.m. in regional round action.

In Division IV, No. 2 John Curtis Christian handled No. 31 Baker 25-5, 25-4, 25-6.

Addilyn led the attack with seven kills, Alyzia had 21 assists and served six aces and Marissa served three aces and had three digs.

The Patriots (31-8) advance to the regional round to host No. 15 Springfield, Friday at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs dismissed No. 18 Fisher 25-12, 25-10, 25-10.

In Division IV, No. 3 Northlake Christian dismissed No. 30 Amite 25-5, 25-9, 25-8.

Abby Bailey drilled 10 kills and had eight digs, Evie Burns and Khloe Duncan each had six kills, Ruby Busenitz had four kills, Molly McLain served seven aces and had three digs. Abigail Drury had 19 assists and Abigail White finished with 11 assists and four digs for the Wolverines.

Northlake Christian (31-7) hosts No. 19 Pine today in regional action at 5 p.m.

No. 7 Academy of the Sacred Heart defeated No. 26 Collegiate (BR) 25-11, 25-4, 25-6 in New Orleans.

Kate Farris had nine kills while Gigi Gibbens finished with five kills. Caroline Balart had 14 assists while Taylor Roberts contributed 15 aces and two digs.

The Cardinals (26-14) move on to the regional round to host No. 10 De La Salle Friday at 5 p.m. The Cavaliers advanced with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-16 win over No. 13 North Caddo Wednesday.

In Division V, seven-time defending state champion and top seed Country Day rolled over No. 32 Northeast 25-5, 25-14, 25-4 in Metairie.

Pelle Cimini and Gigi Dazet each finished with seven kills, Maggie Schneider served four aces and Faith Fennidy and Evelyn Rivas each served three aces.

The Cajuns (23-9) will entertain No. 16 Highland Baptist this evening at 6 p.m. in the regional round. The Bears ousted No. 17 St. John in four sets.

No. 8 Crescent City Christian advanced with a 25-18, 25-11, 25-8 victory over No. 25 Catholic of Pointe Coupee.

Anabella Rouquette led the Pioneers with nine kills, seven digs, three aces and a block. Ja’Kaira Jimcolly had seven kills and five blocks. Holly Oliviera had 13 digs and served four aces. Jensen Heaphy contributed two kills, 20 assists, six digs and an ace and Madison Foster added six kills, 10 digs and an ace.

The Pioneers (25-13) will host No. 9 Episcopal of Acadiana Friday at 6 p.m. in regional round play.
