Volleyball: Mount Carmel rebounds Thursday with district win over Chalmette; Cabrini rolls

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, Oct. 18

Mount Carmel bounced back from consecutive losses with a convincing 25-19, 25-14, 25-5 win at Chalmette in a District 8-1 contest Thursday.

Senior Emily Meyer had 17 kills ,10 digs, four blocks and an ace to pace the Cubs while senior Victoria Frught had 45 assists, 21 digs and a kill. Senior Camille Denny finished with 13 kills, 15 digs, an ace and a block.

Mount Carmel (21-8, 1-1) returns to district play, hosting Higgins Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. while the Owls (18-15, 1-1) travel to John Ehret Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Cabrini posted a solid 25-19, 25-15, 26-24 victory at Academy of The Sacred Heart.

Kai Williams had 18 kills, two blocks and an ace while Jaylin St. Martin added 11 kills for the Crescents. Jen Brue had 38 assists and 15 digs.

Cabrini (23-3) will host J.F. Kennedy Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. while Sacred Heart (15-7) will host Vandebilt Catholic next Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
