Area Prep Volleyball Report for Wednesday, Sept. 28

In a battle of traditional, multi-state championship programs, the higher classification team was too much for the smaller school Tuesday.

Mount Carmel Academy went to Metairie and handled defending Division V state champion Country Day 25-17, 25-19, 25-22.

Lindsey Wickersham paced the Mount Carmel attack with 15 kills and 13 digs while Julianna Indovina had nine kills. Ellen Brown and Emma Richey each had 19 assists for the Cubs.

Kansas commit Ellie Schneider paced the Cajuns with 12 kills while Emma Launey finished with 18 assists.

Mount Carmel (26-3) won its fifth straight match. The Cubs are at Ben Franklin Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. while Country Day (10-2) will host Northshore, also Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Academy of Our Lady snapped a two-match losing streak, winning 25-14, 25-17, 25-17 at Warren Easton.

Lillian Daviss led the offense with nine kills, Abby Cao had 20 assists, Ella Treadway produced seven digs and Cassidy Jones had two blocks.

The Penguins (14-6) will host McGehee next Monday. The Eagles (5-9) travel to West St. John Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Slidell wore down Hammond 27-25, 25-21, 25-5 in a District 5-I contest at Hammond.

Reagan Robinson led the Tigers with 14 kills while Ava Labat finished with 18 assists for Slidell.

The Tigers (9-7, 2-2) return to action Thursday at Northlake Christian at 5:30 p.m. The Tornadoes (10-10, 0-1) lost for the sixth straight time and will host Covington Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Chalmette handled McGehee 25-11, 25-22, 25-15 in New Orleans.

Krislenn Lucas had 11 kills and four digs, Bryla Major had nine kills, Gabrielle Landry had eight kills, three digs and two aces, Alivyah Peters had 29 assists and eight digs and Armoni Harris finished with 13 digs and served an ace while Jade Hll had seven digs.

The Owls (17-4) won for the fourth straight time and will host Mandeville Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. while the Hawks (11-6) will travel to Haynes Academy Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
