Volleyball: Mandeville takes bounce-back win over Hammond, MCA handles West Jeff

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Wednesday, Oct. 28

Ranked third in the current LHSAA Division power ratings, Mandeville is poised to be a threat to Mount Carmel Academy and Dominican in Kenner at the state tournament next month despite losing to both teams this season.

The Skippers (15-3) showed their prowess again Tuesday, whipping Hammond 24-7, 25-15, 25-17 in a District 5-I contest at home to complete a season sweep of the Tornadoes.

Senior Taylor Pierce led the way with 19 kills, 11 digs, two blocks and an ace while senior Gabby Oos produced 10 kills, three blocks and an ace and a dig. Senior Ashlynn Anderson had 36 assists, 12 digs, two kills and an ace.

Mount Carmel easily dismissing West Jefferson at home, winning 25-7, 25-4, 25-7.

Senior Cecilia Brown led the Cubs with 11 kills, nine aces, six digs and two assists. Senior Rachelle Burdine had 23 assists and two digs. Seniors Arianna White, Alli Hollars and Abby Johnson each had six kills.

The Cubs (17-5) are second in the most recent LHSAA Division I power ratings.

All area matches scheduled for Wednesday have been canceled, due to the approach and eventual impact of Hurricane Zeta.
