Volleyball: Mandeville, Academy of Our Lady win Thursday in straight sets

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, Oct. 15

In a District 5-I match, Mandeville handled Ponchatoula 25-9, 25-12, 25-18 at home Thursday.

Junior Keira Beverley had eight kills while senior Geneva Thompson had seven kills, 11 assists and four digs. Senior Clara Flynn served four aces and had four digs. Sophomore Maison Vigil had a pair of aces and a dig. Senior Laura Ferrier dished up 15 assists, had six digs and served two aces. Senior Madeline Marquez contributed eight digs

Mandeville (19-4, 8-1) returns to district play next Tuesday at Fontainebleau at 4:30 p.m. while the Green Wave (9-12, 2-7) will host Slidell next Tuesday at 5 p.m.

In a District 8-II showdown, Academy of Our Lady dismissed Belle Chasse in straight sets, winning 25-23, 29-27, 25-17.

Kylie Howell led the Penguins with 17 kills, Abbie Robichaux had 33 assists and Emily Eschette finished with 11 digs. Essence Wren had two blocks and served two aces.

AOL (16-4, 5-0) returns to District 8-II action next Tuesday at Helen Cox at 4:30 p.m. Belle Chasse (19-4, 3-2) will entertain New Orleans Military & Maritime Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Destrehan won at home over Grace King 25-6, 25-4, 25-7.

Senior Ryley Borne had 10 kills while juniors Lily Hayes and Enaya Kimbel each had five kills. Junior Madison DeFrisco served five aces, senior Skylar DeFrisco had 22 assists and served four aces and sophomore Kamryn Borne also had four aces for the Wildcats.

Destrehan (11-5, 2-0) returns to action next Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. while Grace King (1-12) will host East Jefferson Monday at 5 p.m.
