Volleyball: Northlake Christian, John Ehret remain unbeaten, Haynes gets big win over Country Day
Area Prep Volleyball Report for Wednesday, Sept. 13
Northlake Christian is rolling.
The Wolverines have been dominant thus far this season and that continued Tuesday, remaining unbeaten with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-15 win at Ponchatoula.
Abby Bailey led the attack with 19 kills, six digs and two aces, Rylie Kuyper had 10 kills and 14 digs while Khloe Duncan had seven kills. Abigail Drury had 67 assists, eight digs and three kills. Evie Burns had six kills and four blocks and Lily Boogaerts finished with three kills and three blocks.
Northlake Christian (11-0) will travel to St. Martin’s Episcopal today at 5:30 p.m. The Green Wave (6-5) will host St. Scholastica next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
John Ehret also remained unbeaten with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-8 home victory over Higgins.
Anyla Dennison had five kills and a block, Destin Walker served 10 aces and Gabrielle Pizani had two aces.
The Patriots (4-0) return to action at McMain Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The Hurricanes (1-4) will entertain Fisher today at 4:30 p.m.
Haynes Academy scored a statement win over seven-time defending Division V state champion Country Day, winning 25-23, 22-25 25-17, 25-22 at Haynes. It was the first-ever win for the Yellow Jackets over the Cajuns. Haynes had previously not even won a set against the Cajuns.
Virginia Voitier led Haynes with 14 kills, 12 digs and served seven aces. Isabella Granados had 12 assists, seven digs and five aces. Marilyn Voitier added nine kills, eight digs and six assists.
Haynes (5-1), whose only loss is to three-time defending Division I state champion Dominican, travels to Cabrini Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Country Day (6-3) is back in action today, entertaining Vandebilt Catholic at 5 p.m.
Mount Carmel Academy dismissed Cabrini 25-17, 25-13, 25-16 at Cabrini.
Senior Caroline Harris had nine kills while junior Julis Savois and senior Brooke Darrah each had seven kills. Senior Nola Sevin had 13 digs and junior Emma Richey had 33 assists, four aces and three blocks.
