Volleyball: Country Day, McGehee roll on with wins Thursday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, Sept. 21

Two-time defending Division V state champion Country Day remained hot, winning its sixth straight match with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-15 over Northlake Christian in Metairie.

Senior Alex Smith led the way with 13 kills while senior Mary Tebbe dished out 29 assists. Junior Kate Launey had 14 digs for the Cajuns (10-3).

Country Day will host Parkview Baptist and Archbishop Chapelle Saturday. The Wolverines (3-2) will return to action next Tuesday, hosting Pearl River at 4 p.m.

McGehee fought off De La Salle 25-17, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22 at home.

The Hawks got 19 kills and 22 digs from Jada Felix while Jordan Felix had eight kills and 16 assists.

McGehee (9-3) returns to action Monday at 5:30 p.m. at home against Cabrini while the Cavaliers (4-8), who have lost four straight, woll travel to Dominican next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
