Volleyball: Chapelle, Mount Carmel, AOL secure Thursday wins as playoff approach

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Friday, Oct. 29

Archbishop Chapelle captured the District 7-I championship, downing Destrehan 25-17, 25-14, 25-23 at home Thursday.

Megan LaCour led the charge for the Chipmunks with 14 kills while Isabella McCann had 13 kills. Khara Morton added six kills.

Chapelle (20-6, 3-0) will host Lakeshore Saturday at 4 p.m. while the Wildcats (13-8, 2-1) are done with their regular season. The Chipmunks were 13th in the most recent Division I power ratings.

In District 8-I, Mount Carmel Academy rolled over John Ehret 25-6, 25-5, 25-4 at home.

Senior Olivia Stant had nine kills and served five aces. Senior Sara Carollo served eight aces and had 14 digs. Senior Molly Chase had 12 digs. Senior Emery Mayer had eight assists and freshman Emma Richey added six assists for the Cubs.

Mount Carmel (26-13, 4-1) closes its regular season Saturday at Academy of Our Lady at 10 a.m. The Cubs were fourth in the most recent LHSAA Division I power ratings.

The Patriots (8-10, 1-4) have completed their regular season.

Academy of Our Lady rolled to its 11th straight win, easily downing Landry 25-6, 25-1, 25-3 at home in a District 8-II match.

Destinee Williams had six kills, Emily Eschette served 16 aces, Essence Wren had eight assists and Katie Harlow produced a pair of digs for the Penguins.

AOL (25-4, 9-0), fifth in the most recent LHSAA Division II power ratings, plays Mount Carmel Saturday.
