Cabrini, John Curtis post impressive wins (Ken Trahan)

Cabrini came up a step short of its goal of winning a state championship in Division II in 2017 and 2018. The Crescents appear poised to take that next step in 2019.

Cabrini remained unbeaten, downing five-time defending Division I state champion Mount Carmel Academy 25-21, 25-21, 25-22 at Mount Carmel Wednesday.

Kai Williams was a force with 40 kills for the Crescents (4-0). The Cubs (2-2) were led by Emily Meyer with 25 digs and nine kills. Mount Carmel returns to action next Wednesday at Fontainebleau while Cabrini will host Vandebilt Catholic next Tuesday.

John Curtis Christian easily handled Zachary 25-11, 25-10, 25-9 at River Ridge.

Sierra Sacco led the Patriots (5-2) with eight kills and nine digs while Danielle Taix had 26 assists and 11 digs, four kills and two assists. John Curtis returns to action at Dunham Monday while the Broncos (2-2) will travel to Brusly next Tuesday.
